On 24 June, the Law Enforcement Working Party (LEWP) met for the last time under the Portuguese Presidency, which was held by Superintendent Luís Elias, from PSP, and Marta Ferreira, from SGMAI.
This meeting was dedicated exclusively to the revision of the EUROPOL mandate, following on from the various discussions on the subject held during the last 6 months of LEWP meetings.
As a result, the Presidency managed to obtain a comfortable majority on the latest draft proposal, which will be examined at COREPER on 30 June for the adoption of a general approach to the revision of the EUROPOL Regulation and thus to obtain a mandate to start negotiations with the European Parliament.
