MHA participates in the official launch of the Open Employers Pledge

On the morning of June 28 the official launching ceremony of the Open Employers Pledge took place, in virtual format, with the participation of several business leaders representing some of the most innovative start-ups and SMEs of the European economy, as well as with the presence of the Vice-President of the European Commission and the Minister for Home Affairs and Secretary of State for Integration and Migrations of Portugal, as Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

Minister Cabrita reflected on the European Union's global competitiveness in attracting and retaining highly qualified workers and emphasised the major achievement of the Portuguese Presidency in this area, with the agreement reached on the revision of the "Blue Card" Directive.

This initiative seeks to demonstrate the support of several CEOs and investors for a common European labour migration policy that will enable Europe to attract, retain and relocate global talent; support the adjustment of new trends for remote work; and ensure equal rights for all workers.

Concerning employers, they agree to commit to the development of new avenues for labour migration, equal rights and opportunities within the EU, and a healthy integration and diversity culture within businesses.
