The first meetings of the Law Enforcement Working Party (LEWP) were held on 11 and 25 January. During the first meeting two of the Portuguese Presidency's priority themes in the area of police cooperation were presented: the protection of public spaces and the fight against sports-related violence. The annual programme of the European Firearms Experts network was also presented for which Portugal holds the presidency.
The meeting on 25 January was devoted exclusively to the revision of EUROPOL's mandate, the discussions of which focused on two thematic blocks, cooperation with private entities and strengthening in research and development.
