European Anti-Racism Summit
The first European Summit against Racism, a joint initiative of the European Commission and the Portuguese Presidency of the Council, organised in collaboration with the European Parliament's Anti-Racism and Diversity Intergroup (ARDI), took place on 19 March in a virtual format.

Amongst many other political and social actors, the Summit was attended by the Portuguese Minister of State for the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Mariana Vieira da Silva, the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen and the Executive Director of CEPOL, Detlef Schröder, who discussed the implementation of the European Union Anti-Racism Action Plan 2020-2025, adopted in September 2020.

Furthermore, the event proved to be an opportunity to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, observed on 21 March.
